YouTube offers twin engines for revenue with advertising and subscribers, paying out more than $3 billion to the music industry in 2019 from ads and subscriptions.
YouTube is however not the only platform that music rights holders are earning revenue from. The number of platforms generating music royalty revenue are only increasing with some songs collection music from over 139 different sources. Platforms like Spotify, Pandora, TikTok and Peloton are all gaining in popularity which is giving music rights owners new income streams.
